The Heritage Society

For more than 40 years, thousands of LaSalle, Regis and Xavier High School students have received a Christ-centered education that is second to none.  It is the commitment of the Xavier Foundation to ensure future generations of students will continue to receive a quality Catholic secondary education.

The Heritage Society was established in 1992 to recognize donors who share this commitment by including the Xavier Foundation in their estate or deferred-giving plans. Each year Heritage Society members are honored at the Donor Recognition Reception. Click here for a complete list of Heritage Society Members.

Making a planned or deferred gift to the Xavier Foundation can benefit both Xavier and the donor. Most planned gifts can offer significant tax savings to the donor while ensuring future financial support for Xavier students.

There are many ways to include Xavier in your estate plans:

  • A provision in your will, setting aside a specific amount or a percentage of your estate to the Foundation.

  • Creation of a charitable remainder trust or charitable lead trust.

  • Purchase of a charitable gift annuity that provides you a guaranteed annual income for life.

  • A gift of real estate with a retained life interest.  You enjoy the property during your lifetime, and upon your death, the property passes to the Foundation.

  • Naming the Foundation as beneficiary of IRA distribution funds.

  • Designating the Xavier Foundation as beneficiary of all or a portion of a life insurance policy.

Significant income, estate and inheritance tax savings may be realized by you and your family as a result of your planned gift.  We encourage you to contact your attorney, accountant or financial advisor for more information.  By including the Foundation in your estate plan, you will be ensuring a sound financial base for years to come.

The Archdiocese of Dubuque has compiled an in-depth overview of planned giving that you are welcome to explore. Learn what sorts of assets make excellent charitable gifts, and which giving arrangements are the most beneficial to you. Then punch the numbers to see your possible tax advantages.
